The White Stripes, 7Horse
You don't hear a lot of bands with a heavy dose of strange anymore these days. Most indie bands are musical contortionists trying to fit into either the Mumford box, the Passion Pit box, or the James Blake box. Nashville-based The Whistles and the Bells definitely have their influences (a heady amalgamation of pretty much every 90s alt-rock band), but they stir it up and aren't worried about their rough edges, instead wearing they wear them proudly like a patch of your favorite band long before they're anyone else's favorite band.
Yo Nashville is a segment in which we highlight local acts from right here in Music City U.S.A.
