Run River North [formerly: Monsters Calling Home] - Foxbeard/ Mr. Brightside

Feels Like: Of Monsters and Men, Bon Iver, Mumford and Sons, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, The Head and the Heart, Deer Tick, Dawes, Delta Spirit, Justin Townes Earle

Aren’t you tired of people asking you who your favorite Los Angles based, all Asian, indie rock band is and not having an answer?  Well thanks to a YouTube ad, a little bit of luck, and Honda I have finally found the perfect band that satisfies all the before mentioned requirements.  Last night as I was searching for STS9 videos and a  YouTube ad popped up.  Normally I would yell a couple profanities and mumble about how much better YouTube was in the “good ol’ days” without ads, but this time YouTube got it right.  This 5 min. ad by Honda showcased an up and coming band, Monsters Calling Home.  After a quick Google search I found some of their videos and liked what I heard.    Monsters does a great job of mixing folk influences with acoustic and electric instrumentation in a new way that is sure to get your foot tapping. They also have a couple great Black Keys and Killers covers on their SoundCloud page.  While there isn’t much of them out there now, and no tour to date, I have a feeling we will be hearing much more of them in the weeks to come. Oh yeah, they were also showcased on Jimmy Kimmel Live a couple nights ago which shouldn’t hurt.
